Just installed a tacho with the long rod hyper pak 62 valiant.
Well she gets up and boogies and i was shocked when i saw the rpm im getting. I had it out to 6k on the road not a drama, is this the sort of rpm i should be expecting with this kind of build? I even double checked to make sure that i had the tacho set for 6 cylinder! Gear changes would be at around 5500 to 5700 I did notice that power loss was evident at the 6k mark, obviously I wouldnt be red lining the car every gear, every time I love cruising in this car! And with fuel at $1.65 a litre and the cost of a rebuild no thanks.

I'll be taking it to get dyno tuned soon but before that I want to make sure everything is in good order. These areas I feel may be the weak points of engine, well maybe not to you.

Dissy- I've read about regraphing which springs etc should I use? currently using elec dissy with msd 6al.
Pushrods- I'm currently using stock ones, should I invest in a custon hardened set?
Rockers-Currently using a remanufactured set from rokerarms.com, Is it worth while changing to rollar rockers if my engine pulls this sort of rpm?

Any other tips would be great on what what I should have done before I get the dyno tune.

Thanks again.[/img]

I can run my 63 Dart to 6K very easy and drive it every where. Just pull it to 6K on the strip.

Use what you have and set the total mechanical advance to 30 degrees.

No advantage here, use what you have until it becomes a problem.

How do I set my mechanical advance to 30deg? Do I do this by changing something in the dissy? I'm currently not using any vacuum advance, should I install this?

I've turned my long rod motor to 6700 a few times, and usually shift at 6500.

I've used stock rockers and RAS/Cox 1.6 rockers. No difference in performance.

I do have 10 Smith Brothers pushrods left in the motor too. The geometry was off one time I had my Cox rockers in and it ate a couple.
