Howell just e-mailed me. Here is their offer:

Valve Cover - $136 even beats $144.20

2x1 intake - $245 beats $259.99

4bbl - $225 beats $249.99

Talk to me folks! More details to come,
As I am more of a watcher than purchaser, I would do as the last 2 posts suggests, so Dan doesnt feel left out in the cold if you go that route.. Heck you could just forward the e and a follow up call and ask if he could match/beat price... give him another @ bat @ least.. I would love to have the VC but my funds are so tight George has his eyebrow raised on all my bills...lol... And thats all I will say in this thread..

Keep up the good work. Definitely getting a 4brl intake at these prices, would be even better if the prices went lower.

Howell's prices do not include shipping - as a matter of fact he would like one of us to take care of distribution and shipping from a central location. His preferred mode of payment would be wire transfer or money order. So it looks like he would prefer his money up front and he would "broker" the group buy.

Talked to Dan at EAS twice today. He is willing to match Howells offer to the T. In other words money up front and send Offy the address to ship all the product. Again one of us would become the distributor and have to collect a shipping fee.

Or we go with Dan's original prices and he takes care of all shipping and distribution - PLUS HE WILL TAKE CREDIT CARD ORDERS and will not charge your card until product is shipped. Dan said he would be happy to take care of us either way.

Still have some more investigating to do - Talk to me fellas!

I liked the method of the valve cover group buy. This other way sounds as if there could be issues maybe. I am not broke but not rich either. sending money and being 'on hold' until it gets here kind of dont sit well with me. That being said the price that Dan has EXCLUDING shipping is pretty close. The shipping cost is on my mind. If it were say $25.00 bucks this would be $20.00 bucks higher than that price I had in mind. No biggie and can do however, I am with the group on this one. Thats the whole concept here. I would think a flood of money coming in and Dan ever willing getting to be on top of this and getting these shipped out etc. would be a good shot in the arm for him. If I had a business and had a chance to make a sale I would like this I would be all over it. Word gets around. A reputation goes a long way if you know what I mean.,

Chas.- Thank you for keeping up with this thread. I said I called Dan twice today - that is not totally correct. The second time he called me back and left a message to call him. The guy is up front and honest - you talked to him - you know.

I don't mind doing the research and legwork on these deals - it is my way of giving back to the forum and so many people that have helped me.

I do not want to be a clearinghouse for these parts. I just want to give members the best price on parts that I want - and you want too. 8)

Price is good with me either way, it's still better then I can find most of the time and if they have dealt well with the group buys it's always good to give them some profit and keep them in business.

I like being able to use my visa debit card as well as it simplifies things a bit but I will go with however everyone else wants to do it.

Thanks for all the help with this so far.

Robert

You are a stand up guy and your efforts to this website and its members to me are what makes this site a good place to be. I dont get on here much as I have a very complicated life but when I do its nice to be here in good company. A big thanks again and I am IN on a 2X1 intake hands down. I am sticking on the thread and grouping with the masses. When the smoke clears and this group buy locks in on price etc. I am there too.
Chas.

I think we should go with dans original price and have them ship it to us. It might be easier for all of us to pay $8 more ($144) and forego having one person handle all of the shipping. In the long run, the facilitator (person handling shipping) will end up paying more than $8 shipping each individual package out....

Thanks guys for your input. I haven't heard from anyone to be the distributor and shipper - don't blame ya I don't want to either.

So it looks like this is the deal - I say we use Dan @ EAS to order our products. He will take our orders / credit cards and he can handle everything to get it delivered to your door and into your hands. We would be paying a little more than with Howell's quote but we would be paying for excellent customer service.

Dan's prices again:

2x1 intake $259.99 + ship

4bbl $249.99 + ship

Valve cover $144.20 + ship

Talk to me guys - let me know if you are in or out or whatever. Please give me your input.

I am for sure in on a 4bbl intake, just need to know how to give my payment information since I am totally new to this. Also might be able to squeeze in a valve cover but won't know until next week for sure.

Thanks for all the hard work on this. :D

Isn't there an adapter of some kind for the 4 barrel intake? I could be mistaken as it appears there are already 4 threaded holes to mount a carb in the brand new one I have. If one is required, would it be included in the group buy?

Uh, nobody has really covered this but since the 2X1 intakes and the supplied linkage are pre 67 (and the later cable driven linkage need fabbing) perhaps someone on this site may want to fab (or already may have done) a a setup to make these work right. I have some ideas but since this intake has been around for awhile somebody should have tackled this one already. My idea was using a longer cable and coming at it from the right side and flipping the rod with the tabs supplied in the kit. I think it will work?? Still out on the kickdown? (Lokar)????

I will talk to Dan and find his preferred modes of payment. Last time we called him individually and placed our orders - most of us using credit cards. Cards were not charged until product was ready to go out Dan's door.

What we need now is an actual head count/product count since pricing seems confirmed. Once we have that I can work on all the details to make this happen. If we don't have enough product volume it may not work - we will see.

GUYS CHIME IN SO WE CAN COUNT OUR DUCKS AND GET 'EM IN A ROW!
