i got it a while ago but i dont remember what it came off of. it uses a hold down like a v8. the wires look goofy because it has a prestolite electronic ignition setup in there. i cant remember if it was points or electronic before i did the swap and i want to make it a regular electronic setup so i can do the hei upgrade. does anyone know off of the top of their head?

Show us the top. It's got vacuum advance so it's going to also have a mechanical advance, but if it doesn't have a reluctor wheel then it was a point distributor. The hold-down is easy to swap so that's no help with an ID.

sorry about that, pretty sure there is a cam under there for points. what years/models did that style of hold down come on?

That's a pre-'72 distributor -- probably earlier than that, but can't tell from these photos whether it has the boss for the oil cup -- that's been retrofitted with an '81(ish)-up hold-down plate and an aftermarket electronic ignition setup.
