The Parts List needs to be updated!!! I'm looking for some and Motion Ind. site doesn't show that part# 2-218 at all. The ones I got at NAPA are not as fat as the old dried out ones I replaced and they leak. Sooooooooo, do I take a little permatex to help them seal or can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

The RTV can drop off into the lifters area. It won't stick to the head unless it is really clean.

Maybe soak them in brake fluid first, then wipe off before install? Never tried it. Just tossing it out to the clan.

The parts list on this site is so unreliable as to be basically useless.

Perhaps NAPA sold you the wrong seals, or perhaps there's something the matter with how you're installing the spark plugs and tubes, or perhaps your spark plug tubes are distorted/bent.

Tune-up parts and technique suggestions, including valid P/Ns for spark plug tube seals, will be found in this thread.

Do not(!) use RTV.

I know about removing the washer, I've never installed plugs with one. Maybe the tubes are tweaked from previous plug installs, who knows??? At least I can see if these new seals are fatter than what I have now, hopefully that will help fix the problem? Thanks

I used some felpro o rings. One or two weep oil a bit. No washers. And tubes are straight. I was thinking of using some aviation permeatex stuff us vw guys tend to use. Brown goo

Well, I use some RTV on both sides of the old o-ring every time I do plugs, if I don't bother to get new o-rings. Seals up leaks nicely. I just use a thin skin of it, thin as your fingernail. No way I would use brown goo aviation sealer.

Sounds like you did get the wrong rings, though.

Aviation and Indian head stuff cleans easier then silicone in my experience. Brown goo scrubs off pretty easy with acetone. Silicone I always find my self scraping little bits with a screwdriver or my fingernail

Carb cleaner followed by brake cleaner. When you can use it safely.

I've found local hardware stores have vast assortments of o-rings in different thicknesses and sizes.Buytal and neoprine materials(spelling?) .Thats where I found mine.Have lasted for years. Take your tube with you.
