Are Dorman or Pioneer balancers any good? Dorman 594-243 or Pioneer DA-2250
I can get the dorman with a lifetime warranty and the pioneer with a 1yr warranty and 20% discount though my job for either.

What would the advantage to the truck dampener be? More mass = more dampening effect?

Three pulleys without bolt-on sheaves. I don't know about more damping effect -- it's difficult to imagine more being necessary or beneficial.

Ah. So the only advantage to the truck dampener is a guaranteed three pulleys without the need for bolt on pulleys? I agree about no more damping being necessary. I suppose the added mass could offer a minimal MPG increase by acting as a mini flywheel if the engine was operated at high RPM for extended periods of time. But I doubt it would be noticeable.

I am guessing (but it's just a guess) that what's heavy-duty about this 3-groove damper is the 3 integral sheaves. It's a heavier-duty belt drive, not a heavier-duty crank vibration damper.

I see that vendor says it's for a cast crank; will it also work on a forged crank as well?

Why not reuse the original one? I have never had one fail, even on hipo motors. I think the pre-64 ones might have been more prone to failure.
