Unfortunately, my predictions are getting even closer to being fulfilled...
With the second
East Coast "Rain Out" at Knoxville, it's going to be even harder for the
East Coasters to bring that Traveling Trophy back East this year.
Charlie Schmid towed all the way up from Florida for this event. He stood one of the best chances at the Championship. He told me that he does not plan to tow back up for Bristol or Clay City.
Rookie Frank Funk actually leads the
East Coasters in points right now. He and Ryan Covalt came all the way down from Pennsylvania with 3 cars for this event!

With another Mason-Dixon race added to the calendar in October, this young Rookie may be the
East Coasters' best chance at a National Championship this year!
Hey Frank! Don't wait for Mason-Dixon to race again though! Ryan will be at Clay City for the "Fast Four and Grudge Matches Galore" event.

Plan to come with him! You'll need the allowable 5 races to pick your points from to compete with those
Killer Bees!
So,... Unless Rookie Frank Funk can pull this off,... I'm pretty much calling my predictions "fulfilled".
What's that you say? What about #5 and that C/Gas record being taken away from "Record Collector" Mark Etheridge...

Not to worry! I've got a deal worked out with Howard Davis on that.

He holds the C/Alcohol record at 11.27, but he's willing to run on Gas at Clay City if no one else has taken the record by then...
Either that, or I'll set up the Challenger to run on Gas for Clay City (instead of that 55 gallons of methanol sitting in the garage) and take Mark's A/Gas record instead!
That should do it. All done!
(#1 ain't even worth mentionin'... Cookie's already Crumblin' all over the place...

Gettin' closer on my predictions...
#1 will ALWAYS be a "No Brainer"...
#2 I fullfilled by making the first pass in Chase's new Duster at Woodburn...
#3 is done. Chase helped with this one by racing at Woodburn too.

We're up to 14 Rookies so far this year...
#4 and #5 still have a ways to be determined, but Mark did re-set his A/Nitrous record. We need a fast/heavy car to grab that C/Gas record from Mark still...
#6 is halfway there with "The Green Grenade" debut at Mo-Kan. There was a sweet HAMB style FED racing with us at Woodburn running 12's, so I s'pose we could consider that one done...
#7 is only 1/3rd done so far. I was hoping Mark Goodman would race at Mo-Kan, but he let the "Green Team Young Guns" take over driving... I'll have to start buggin' Howard Davis and Barry Harrison to schedule a re-match of their historic "Grudge Match"!

Howard has built a SERIOUS billet head/crank engine and he REALLY wants Barry to dust off his '66 Valiant for a heads up re-match... His words to me were, "You tell Barry to bring his 'baby bottle' (NOS) and a case of beer!"
#8 has been fulfilled (so far...) There were 17 cars at Mason-Dixon in May. Woodburn was the next closest with 10. Car counts for this weekend at Elk Creek and Samoa are closer to 10 than 17...

Okay, I'll get this party started!
Here's some of my predictions for the 2012 racing season. Feel free to add to this list. Anything goes. Do a copy/paste to keep it going like the Best times and Records threads.
1. Of course, I have to start it off by predicting that Mater (me

) is gonna whoop up on Cookie (wvenable) in "The Ultimate Slant 6 Grudge Match"! It won't be heads up, cuz even my "slow" car will be faster than his.

I'll even give him a chance and we'll do the best 3 out of 5 deal. Ain't I generous?
2. I will make some passes in more than 1 Slant 6 vehicle this year.
3. We will see at least a dozen brand new faces join us over the course of the year.
4. The National Champion Traveling Trophy will stay out West with the
Killer Bees again this year. Yes,... I'm an
East Coaster. I'm also somewhat of a realist.

At least when it comes to other people...
5. Guzzi Mark will have some issues with his new nitrous set up at Vegas, but will work at it until he re-sets the A/Nitrous record later in the season. His other A and B/Gas records will be safe this year, but someone will take the C/Gas record.
6. We will finally see a couple Slant 6 powered dragsters show up to set some of the new AA records. Brent Laney will set the bar nice and high at the Mo-Kan race 28 April in the "Green Grenade". He and Mark Goodman have teamed up again to build a sweet looking FED. It's good to see Team Green back in action with another Slant 6 project!
7. We will see at least three people return to race with us that have been absent for several years.
8. Mason-Dixon will have the highest car count for the year.
