Hi all,

I have been having issues with my left control arm "sagging" after driving around. I noticed it first on the stock ride height my car was at and thought I had just mis-adjusted it when I replaced the torsion bars. Now I have the car much lower and noticed it again when the left front tire ripped the stainless trim off on a corner. Measuring from the floor to the fender lip it dropped 1.5" compared the setting on the right. This was only from a few drives since I had the car realigned after I adjusted the ride height.

Yesterday I set the height back to level side-to-side, drove it a few miles, and sure enough when I got home it was .5" lower. I did jounce it and make sure it was settled in after I adjusted it, so I don't think its simply settling.

Any one have an idea of how I could keep the adjustor from unadjusting? Or is there another problem in the suspension that might cause this?

Thanks in advance!

MJ

Just a guess here,, some adjuster bolts are fine thread and the bolt/nut can be stripped/worn. Or lower control arm bushing wore out.Or check for crackes at T-bar mount on frame. Check upper control arm mounting points and bushings. Just a few check points.

It is unlikely that the adjusting "screw" is backing-out.
It is common to see the rear torsion bar anchor point crack, twist and break-out of the frame. The LCA bushing - shaft can also break-out of the K-frame mounting point.
Time to do a close inspection arount the 2 ends of the torsion bar.

I have also at least imagined that new tbars or all new susp components can take a while to settle in. I cannot explain this so far, but it has happened once or twice. You may just need to drive it more and readjust.

ok I'll hope for that ;) I will keep adjusting and either run out of adjustor screw (its pretty far out now).

I definitely wasn't able to find anything obviously broken, so I'll just keep cranking it back up and see what happens. Thanks Lou..I really didn't want to take it apart....again ;)

It could be something is messed up, but you can at least try this for a little bit and see how it goes.

Let's hope for the settling instead ;) I'll keep you posted. This morning it was only 1/4" lower than when I set it last time, so hopefully its stabilizing.

Why don't you overadjust?

That way it will quit, and then you'll have to adjust it lower.........
