I am working on Denny's 85 D100 and I already converted it to HEI. It is getting a new engine and will be running the HEI with an Edelbrock carb...etc. While the engine is out we are detailing the engine bay and the entire engine side wiring harness is out on the floor. I would like to remove all the un-needed wires from the lean burn unit and the old carb ...etc.
Has anyone done this, that could give me some pointers? Anything I need to watch out for?
Quite a few of the wires leaving the 2 lean burn plugs go from the DS fender right aroung the back of the firewall and go to the old carb and sensors...etc. Pretty sure they an all be cut out of the harness. A few wires in those same 2 plugs go, or come, from the bulkhead connector and those I am a little hesitant to just cut off.

Thanks for any help! I am going to go look for an electrical diagram!

Rick

If I remember right, you can trace the entire group of Lean-Burn wires down to one or two wires to the computer- I think it is a big black (+) feed and maybe a ground. Been a while since I traced them all though.

I did it on my 82'. It was very simple once i unplugged all of the sensors, i believe there was a ground and maybe two positives. If the truck has one of those maintenance lights or a cel that is probably what those bulkhead wires go to. Mine didnt so all the wires were in the engine bay.
