I always thought you need forged pistons to handle that kind of power...
What are the effects of running alcohol? Cooler Combustion? Can´t understand why your pistons don´t melt away... 280+ rwhp is an impressive number !

Remember that turbos do not stress a motor like RPMS. You can easily double the hp output with boost and not increase the stress that the motor sees during a run. The car has to be making around 310-315 RWHP to run what it is running.

At Bristol the car ran 10.46 at 125 and went through the lights at 5300rpm. First and second gear shifts came at 5700. You could abuse a slant six more driving back and forth to work!

New motor better tune-up 6.58 @100 on 8# of boost.

5 rounds went from 6.62 to 6.58.
5 60' times 1.40 to 1.37
5 lights from .509 to .517

Car has turned out to be more consistent than we had expected, which has been a nice surprise.

Changed the 4-link and the 60' went from 1.38 to 1.34. ET went from 6.58 to 6.51@101.9. Still 8-9#of boost.

The amount of torque this thing has is awesome. After the GA race we are going to slow it down to 7.00/10.90 for the IHRA World Finals at Rockingham in Oct.

Should be fun to do a little index racing with a protree.

Getting ready for the last race of the year. ACBS race at Darlington on Nov. 18th.

Raised boost from 9 to 10#. Improved the VE table on top end and made it down to 10 cars.

On the wide open runs it ran a best of 6.351 @ 104.94mph. 2 practice and 6 competition runs all from 6.351 to 6.375.

Going to get my Super Gas license for next year and run the 6.40 index class at the divisional races next year.

7 runs on 10# of boost. Improved VE table at stall and launch. Car ran a best of 6.332 @ 105.88mph. All 7 runs were in the 6.30's.

Time to tear it down for the winter and check things over. Want to be ready for the IHRA in March.

Great work getting your new combo "settled-down", you have that car running some good numbers.
So what's going to happen when we get you running some Slant races on a 1/4 mile?? :P

Guess we will have to wait until next year to find out.

Plans over the winter call for a throttle stop and mega 450 box. We will start in March trying to get accustomed to the throttle stop settings and plan on making the Div. 9 races next year to run for points. If things go well at work then maybe we can make more than 4 /6 races next year!

Well after running the Throttle Stop for most of the year we were able to get out last weekend and run wide open.

Made 6 runs and ran a 6.444 in the heat of the day to a 6.419 one the last pass around 8pm. The 60 foot times ranged from 1.398 to a 1.384. DA was 2900 feet. Very bad air. Lights ranged from a .516 to .505. Hit a .505 light and ran .009 off the dial and he put me on the trailer! What can you do...some days you are the car and some days you are the opossum.

OK

15 runs between Friday night practice and Saturday race. All but one run was faster than 6.30 in the 1/8. The first run Friday night was a 6.313.

The fastest run of the weekend was 6.102 @109.8 with a 1.290 60' time.

All runs were at 12# of boost.

Sorry about not responding till now. I do not check this thread that often.

Mike - No misprint those are all legit times.

As far as picstures. I did not see anyone taking digital pics at the event. If you want pictures of the car you can look here.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am fine but the Simca is crunched pretty good.

Here are the bests.

1/8 6.102 @ 109.8
1/4 9.857 @ 132.2

Tom

Getting close -
