It's time to get new tires for the 67 Barracuda as these are 7 years old and checking real bad around the edge. I'm looking for recommendations on a good tire for my needs/wants. I currently have the BFG Radial TA with the RWL (raised white letter). The tread is not even half worn out, so I would think high mileage isn't really something I need worry to much about. The RWL is pretty important because I feel the car really looks better with them, but if the selection of good tires is very limited in RWL, then I'll consider options without. The front is 215/60/15 and the rear is 235/60/15. I'm happy with the size of the tire, but not so much with the traction. Get on the throttle a little and their easily up in smoke. The BFG Drag radials (235/60/15) I have get a bit squirrely in the rain. I'm looking for something in the middle. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Brennan

You're going to have to give up on the raised white letters to get a better tire. There are not a lot of good tires out there in the sizes you're using. To get a really good tire in a width appropriate for your car you pretty much have to go with 17" wheels and tires. :?

I'm not sure what is available in 15s, especially in 60 series. Mostly it's only drag or car show guys who run 15s anymore. There are still nice tires in 16" sizes, but 17s give you a huge range. You might look at vintage road racing tires, where a lot of people also run 15s still. Plan to spend at least $200 a tire there.
