I just got done installing the motor in Denny's D100 and got it running. While we were at it I got rid of about a mile of Lean burn wiring and stuff under the hood. I went inside and I don't have any dash lights at all. I don't think it had any dash lights before. So I would like to get them fixed.

I pulled out the dash and now I need a little guidance on what to check next. Do the dash lights pick up their power from the headlight switch? I do not seem to have any wire on either of the plugs on the back of the dash that has power when the headlight switch is pulled.

Thanks to you electrical Gurus.

And yes the fuses are all good. The only wire that has power into the dash is the main feed wires to the Amp gauge.

Rick

I did some more checking and I did not have power to the fuse for the instrument light fuse. I got out the wiring diagram and it looks like the headlight switch feeds that fuse when you turn on the lights. So I wiggled the switch in and out and rotated it a dozen times and I got juice coming out of the switch to the fuse. So I guess there was just a bunch of corrosion in the switch. I replaced it with a new switch and replaced a couple bulbs and we are back in business.

Guess I can read a little bit of a diagram!!! Just a little. 8) 8)

Doing some more wiring work and was wondering if there are any online wiring diagrams for an 85 truck. I have a 1980 FSM and I am sure they are similar, but I'd like to see the one for an 85 if it is out there.

Dash light power comes from + terminal, through a fusible link, through the bulkhead connector, to the fuse box, to the headlight switch, to the dash lights. If you aren't getting power to the fuse box, check the fusible links.

Reed,

I got the dash lights worked out. I am moving on the cleaning up a bunch of stuff including the fusible links that someone else buggered up. I would just like to see the correct Wiring diagrams.

Thanks,

Rick
