What are the torque specs for the four carburetor-to-intake studs (as they mount to the intake)? Is any kind of compound recommended for this?

The springy thing with the stud for the air cleaner assembly that grips the top of the Holley 2280 carburetor (and certain other carburetors) - what's it called? Where am I likely to find one, or what is a good work around?

Thanks.

There is probably a torque spec. I torque them to "tight" and not a pound-inch less!

The "air cleaner bail" is what you're after. A compatible one comes from any '66-up 273 or 318 (or 225) equipped with a 2bbl carburetor.

On the torque carb. to the intake manifold the specs. in the 1964 service manual is 30 foot pounds, it is in the engine 170-225 section 9-5. That seems like a lot to me but I'm sure the factory is correct on a cast iron manifold with a fresh gasket.
