I can send pics to someone that can share these....thxs in advance. I got these from a friend that bought them from a Hemmings motor news ad about 17 years ago. I could tell he didn't really want to sell them but recent circumstances led to him parting with the Pak. He really wants to build a '60 Valiant with these bits but it would'nt be anytime soon as he stated.
Now I am trying to decide if I want to build a 170 or 225. The engine I pick would dictate the car. The 170 would be a 1st gen Valiant 2 door and manual trans. The 225 would be a '70 Duster with manual as well. The car will not be a daily driver nor a high level resto, who has that money?, but it would be drag raced and for car events/cruising etc. What would you build? :idea:
or do you think the parts are better suited for an early a body resto for a historical reference of a Hyper Pak equiped Slant?

If it were me, and could afford it.
1st choice: 1st gen Valiant/Lancer, aluminum 225. Just to have multiple unique features.
2nd choice: 1st gen Valiant/Lancer, 170, Car built as close to the "Nascar" cars, as possible, and be street usable. For historical reasons.

:shock: ...same here Dan, been waiting for these for about as long as I have known about them, 7 or more years.
I can ask if they came from Texas...was there any special significance/history about those pieces?

I think I just fell in love with those manifolds, trade you one..... no make that TWO kidney for them lol, what an amazing score for sure !!! Anyone know how rare those exhaust manifolds are ??

Danarchy, these were designed with the direct drive prestolite starter in mind and even then you had to modify (index the starter housing to clear) and move the starter solenoid to another location like the firewall or inner fender. My understanding is that they wont work with the later starters not even the mini starter.
My understanding is that Doc designed/engineered his manifolds to NOT have this starter issue.

Yeah, actually it pretty much ran away with the class for a bit.

I don't recognize the track in the pictures, but the foliage and the concrete suggest a northernish small airport track. Rather a long time ago now, but I believe I saw it run at Riverside once when I was flagging there.

Yup, picked it up today. White with blue interior and three speed manual on the floor. It is an original California car and has graced this side of the USA for the last 12 years. Previous owner had collected alot of stuff for an eventual resto-mod but he decided to let it go instead of letting it sit idle.
Aside from surface rust on certain parts of the body the car is straight and really nice underneath. Has what appears to be undercoating on it and is well preserved for its age, especially for a vehicle that has been outside mostly.
The Hyper Pak parts will join its 170 before long and I look forward to driving it. The steering is extremely easy for a manual steering car. I hope this car has the 3.55 to 1 rear end...will check it out soon. Rob may I send you some pics?....thxs!
