Hopefully you can tell just by reading the replies who on here has actually built a performance Slant and who has not.

Not trying to pile on, but 9" brakes suck. I used to think they were OK until I went from driving my '66 Valiant to my '76 Duster. The Duster was considerably heavier, but stopped a ton better with disc brakes.

With a limited budget my wish list would be:

1. Better brakes/rebuild front suspension
2. Rear gears/Sure Grip
3. Converter

With that you have a good foundation for the rest.

I also have a pair of Clifford shorties that were in my cars for over 10 years, and even saw a few Chicago winters. No holes in them anywhere.

I am also a firm believer in an Offy intake and a 390 Holley on a stock motor with headers. It works very well for me. :D

I personally would like to add more power but for now my performance upgrades are 6-leaf springs, 15" cop car wheels and Falken 215/60/15 ZIEX's,new Moog ball joints and Idler arms, and new tubular upper a-frames. Those made a world of difference. And mine has the manual/front discs so was already ahead of the game.

For any concerned purists, I did keep all the original parts to my Dart Lite by the way.
