For your manifold, the easy way to deal with it is install an exhaust manifold that is in good shape. If you are unable to find one, they are available new. They can be found on Rockauto.com, perhaps a few other mail order parts houses, and sometimes Ebay. They are chinese castings, but seem to function OK.

There used to be a kit for rebuilding the heat control valve. I don't know that the kit is available even in NOS anymore.

Used manifolds need to be inspected carefully for cracks and warpage. They should be available from free to cheap. We've got a few floating around that would probably work for you down in the South Willamette valley. Have to do an inspect to make sure. I think Fopar might even have an intact 1bbl stack in his shop you could snag. Depending on the year of the manifold, the choke pocket may be different.

I might have one of those stacks under my bench...and I think I had it machined flat too...

It looks like i have culed out my early manifolds for later stacks. I have on 1967-sh stack with the partially enclosed pocket...but is missing the flapper/shaft/weight.

Should be back in the valley by noon tomorrow, assuming the pass doesn't plug up. I doubt it.

I'll drop dad off, then need to move the big trailer back further on the pad. The "new" car trailer goes on the front of the pad.

Where are you? anywhere near Portland?

I'm a little nervous after looking at your pictures of the brake master cylinder. The plastic M/C lid is a style I've only seen an GM's from the 80's & later- & I can't think of a single application that had 4-wheel drums. Further, the lines are connected to the 2 silver/aluminum pieces that attach to the M/C itself- those appear to be proportioning valves. There look to be 2 ports above that on the side of the M/C that are blocked- so I'm thinking that it came from a Front Wheel Drive car (like a Chevy Cavalier). I'd want to get the exact application for the M/C & booster from the previous owner.

What you have might work "just fine", but is VERY mismatched & could cause safety problems.

Halsey is off MP 216. That should give you a pretty good indicator of the jaunt. I'm hoping you have some other form of transportation to come get it. This isn't a project you can count on driving the car home after a couple hours of work if something goes wrong.

We'll talk off-line about the parts you will need in hand to make this project a success. Working on the car here with the expectation of driving it home at the end of the day isn't a reasonable one unless everything is in good shape. It rarely is on vehicles of this age.
