Can any one give me links/contacts for sources for disc brake conversion parts, for this front axle? Just found the axle and springs, at a swap meet, for a good price. Another piece for my slant six altered wheel base "Gasser".

Thanks, I looked on their site, and they do list a kit. No info about it, though. I sent them a e-mail requesting more info. Have to wait till Monday and see what they say.

AAJ brakes does a bunch of disc brake conversions, but that might be early for them even.

I ran into this site when I was closer to working on my '47 1/2 ton Dodge pea cup:

http://www.rustyhope.com/mopardiscbrakes.html

That should get ya in the ballpark. I do wonder, though if the Dodge axle might be a lot heavier than a newly made axle, like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tube-Axle-48-Ma ... 4d07274ffe

Of course there's lots to be said for using what you already have. Or if you're keepin' it all MOPAR! 8)

And I'd love to see more about your concept "Gasser"! I recall fondly the days when early A bodies had 426 hemis stuffed in 'em and went match bashin' :D

Thanks for the links. Rusty Hope is right here in Florida. The tube axle is probably lighter, but I got the Dodge axle and springs this weekend, for $100.

I got the car (64 signet roller with no front clip installed) from Will Burns, a few years ago. Then I found a one piece fiberglass nose, doors, deck lid and bumpers, for a 66 Cuda, in a Mopar salvage yard. All these parts except for the deck, will fit the Signet. After I bought the parts, as we were loading the nose into the truck, I realized it was an "altered" wheelbase nose. Hence the decision to go to a straight axle, remove the "K" member, and move the engine rearward. I haven't decided whether to relocate the rear axle or not. I would like to, but the body work required, is really beyond my abilities.

Well, like Dirty Harry said: "A man's got to know his limitations." A guy calling himself Funnycar Farmer does altered wheelbases and posts pics. Far beyond my capabilities as well. I can't help wondering how many unibodies he trashed before getting it right.

Re the engine setback, I read of a guy running under gasser rules that said the front sparkplug couldn't be further back than the front wheel spindles. The guy was racing a /6! He could really set that back a ways.
