when i bought my valiant, there was some type of voltage regulator mounted on the left side fender that had fried. i bought a new one and it runs and charges fine.

my question is, what can i use to remove the epoxy goo that dribbled all down my inner fender? that stuff is ON there, and it's nasty looking. i've got a clean car, only 63,000 one owner miles.

I can't think of anything that won't harm the paint. Acetone or MEK will remove it but might damage the paint. Maybe try cleaning solvent/Naptha/Mineral Spirits?

Try WD40... and a plastic dish scrubber. (NOT a 3M pad type)

decided just for fun to hit it with the old power washer. i was initially impressed, but it seemed that the water just kind of "beat it up." later, i was leaning under the hood when much to my surprise my hand was glued to the inner fender. seems i have brought it back to life.

i noticed that when i first posted this thread, the charging system was working fine. now it's not. the only thing i can think of is maybe i got something wet. in any case, i've still got work left to do.

Did you ever get the goo off your hand?
and the car?
I use lacquer thinner let it dry well, then polish it with some wax.

The product "Goof Off" works well too...
