I a new member (I've been following this site for some time, great discussions and info). I'm trying to repair a Holley 1920, but I cant find a float (large diameter pin) . Also, I need the baffle, and the nylon sleeve for the pump (were the steel ball in the Walker kit goes). Any suggestion?Should I find a new carb (Reman (ugh), Weber replacement?)

Sure, go to Slant Six "Slanted Network" menu and look up Joe's Carb Shop, Lynnwood, WA. It is an old fashioned carb shop with thousands of hard to find parts. It is one of my favorite places. Ask for Greg. He has floats, gaskets, you name and is a real wizard on 1920's and helps me keep mine it tip top shape. Give him your list number, mine is a #7585 1920 Holley Economaster. I find that the parts don't last as long with the ethanol based fuel.......

Bought a brass float replacement for a 1945 from Walker. They should have what you need for a 1920. Check here.

nomade, thanks, but I called Walker, and they discontinued the 1920 nytrophyl float. Need to be sourced from somebody else. I also bought one from NAPA, but the holes for the pivot are smaller, and the geometry is not exactly the same (diff model I guess). I'll try with Joe's.

Holley used two different floats in the 1920. One for before about 1964 and one later. Need carb list no. What napa float no did you get. I am researching this myself. The holley no for early models is 16R-362A for later models 16R-362A-3

You can use the black float in an early or later model carb. Joe's Carbs has them and I tested them about 3 years ago as an alternative. Don't worry, they work fine!

I guess this is for the newer one, looked nothing like the older carb float when i opened it

This one http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Catal ... 0063295334 Thats the wrong float or the wrong picture. There phone is 800-732-4832. Ted is right . More research . The difference in the floats is weight. The early one 12.5grams The later 7.5 grams.

Walker site has the 100-86 float listed as 1960 to 1973 with a Holley number of 16R-362-3A and a weight of 7.5 grams

The same Walker site has the 100-14 float listed as 1965 to 1973 with a Holley number of 16R-362A and a weight of 12.5 grams

It seems the two float years overlap at least according to Walker.

Wish someone could weigh up a few floats out of known carbs to clarify.

I compared a TOMCO 709 float that's for a Holley 1920 that "Carbs Unlimited" provided...their specs list it as .05 lbs which is 22 grams against my 3058 float.....and found that on a relative basis the Tomco 709 float was heavier than the 3058 float (assuming it's original).

Holley 1920
Carb number (stamped on top of bowl): 0929 - 4163
Number casted on bowl's side (gas inlet lower left) 12R-4003B
Year 1969

Float: Holley
Weight 0.3 Ounce (sorry, used a Post Office scale...), wich is in line with the 7.5 gr float
