Has anyone used something like either of these to reduce their 600 to a 500?

The shapes of those may not be optimal, but this is essentially what the Carter/Edel/Weber factory does on the primary side to make a 600 into a 500 anyway.

I could see trying the secondary side ones on my 500, since it often has a secondary bog. Have to think about whether that would work well, but for $22 it's worth a try.

for $22.00, I would try them. It seems they are easy to install and easy to remove. Try them and let us know how they work out.

I don't know about easy to remove. It says to install with JB Weld.

Why not order the venturi boosters for a 500 and exchange the 600's??

That's what I do. I pull the primary boosters out, swap to the base jets and metering rods for the size I want to run, 500 or 600, and go.

There is no difference in the secondary for a 600 or 500. Same dimensions, and the jetting remains the same. What do you have the carb jetted to Lou?

I have a 500 and am looking to restrict the secondaries. Will be an interesting experiment. I think I have 0.095" in the secondaries?? Been awhile and will have to check.

This is a Performer or Thunder? Restriction of the secondary is accomplished by increasing the air door weight on the Performer, or increasing spring tension of the air door for the Thunder AVS.

It will be interesting to see how the modification works for you. If you are experiencing a secondary lean out bog, then slowing how quickly the air door responds can fix this.
The secondary for the 500 and 600 are .095's in base tune.
The secondary venturi is 1-9/16" on all Edelbrock carbs from 500 to 750 cfm. The 800's use a 1-5/8" venturi.

If your air door weight has been drilled to speed up tip in, threading the hole, installing a piece of all thread and cutting it off flush can put weight back into it. The all thread should be staked to keep it from coming out.

Just a couple of ideas for you should the other modification not work. I'm not sure how easy it will be to remove the ring. Where is it installed? How did they maintain functionality of the venturi?

I will report when I get one here and play with it. It is designed to make the venture smaller. Higher velocity should make things crisper.

I finally looked at the link. Interesting concept. I see the potential for turbulence in the venturi as the air trips over the ring.

I wonder if there are larger annular booster assemblies for the secondary. While the concept of the ring works, I'd rather decrease area with a booster for the signal. 6 of 1, half dozen of another. Let us know how it works!

It turns out that these are made in Barberton, Ohio, about 5 miles from me. At least that was the address they are shipped from on ebay.
