I am installing an Offy intake manifold on my W-150 slant six. I installed a carb heater kit to the underside of the manifold that connects to the cooling system via heater hoses. Does anybody know the correct way to hook this into the existing plumbing?

I would connect it so that the heater is in the return line from the heater.

While you're at it, probably wouldn't hurt to make sure that the heater core is hooked up properly so that the hot water enters the bottom of the heater core and exits from the top. This would help to purge any air from the heater core.

I'm not sure the heater setup on your truck but on my '65, the heater core inlet is the left side nozzle on the firewall.

I agree with Frank unless you have an air conditioning system that uses a coolant shutoff valve. If you have a coolant shutoff valve in one of the heater core lines and the valve is closed no coolant will flow through the heater under the carb.

Thanks for the tips. The next stupid question is the direction of coolant flow. I have one connector eminating from the water pump and the other from the head. I took the engine out about 5 hyears ago and, for the life of me, can't remember which way the coolant is flowing. I presume out of the water pump.
As for A/C, I have the patented Dodge 250 Air Conditioning system: open two windows and drive 50 mines an hour.

No, I think it is the other way - flowing to the pump. I haven't looked at a Slant 6 pump for a while now, but if I remember right, the heater connection will be in the intake for the pump. This is drawing water from the bottom of the radiator, therefore it will also draw water from the heater connection.
The hot water will come from head and get back to the water pump cooler too.

Thanks for all the help. I'm hoping a truck owner will pop in on this thread and confirm Frank's opinion that the inlet side of the heater core is on the left. I have been through the book and it is ambiguous at best.

Hard to see, but bottom nipple off of water pump hose runs to left side heater core at fire wall. From right side heater core at fire wall hose runs to manifold heat. From manifold heat, hose runs to upper nipple at water pump. Seams to provide enough heat for manifold, and the old bastard driving this heap during cooler weather with top down… I never had a bleeding problem purging air from system.
