According this this post

It would work as he is using a 74 dizzy. I have it on my 84 and couldnt be happier with it. Do a search on google for "slant 6 HEI conversion" there will be plenty to read on here as its where i learned from. Hope this helps, good luck and keep us updated.

The HEI ignition upgrade will work on any vehicle that has an electronic ignition distributor. It has been adapted to slant sixes in general, but also to Mopar V-8s and even Fords using a Duraspark distributor. The engine and distributor do not care what style of body they are installed in, neither does the HEI control module or coil. The HEI upgrade can be done to any Mopar you want to do it to (except newer cars with fuel injection and computer controlled ignition systems).

Bang for buck you can't beat it, like what's been mentioned above, all you need is an electronic dissy.... But not the lean burn model. I like it far more than the mopar stuff, just my preference. I changed from points to hei and the engine runs much cleaner, even the oil stays clean for longer due better combustion. If your handy with basic electronics I have seen mention on the Internet of guys using points to trigger hei, so if you don'thave an electronic dissy and want to save the $$$ this may be an option, but either way, hei is a great upgrade at a very reasonable price. Cheers

Per your signature, if you have a stock 1973 Dart you already have the stock mopar EI with EI distributor. You can upgrade to HEI, but the only benefits at this time would be: easier to get module, hotter spark, remove the ballast resistor out of the equation.

This would be worthwhile if you are upgrading the engine a bit to get the most out of it, for now it isn't 'necessary' if the car is running reliably, but is a good upgrade-especially if you are going to upgrade the rest of our car.
