I pulled the harness from the bulkhead connector to the engine harness, lights, horn etc.

this thing was hanging on by a thread of insulation to an octopus of fusible links.

The fusible link in the photo has at least 3 breaks in it.

The connector was over by the alternator & ESA on the firewall. It was connected to a black wire of similar gauge in the engine harness.

anybody have any idea?

That was an original feed for the fusible links. The white plastic terminal on the end hooked to a pigtal that came off the positive battery terminal. Has someone replaced the fusible links in the past.

I'm getting the idea it's the charging wire for the alternator.

I went to drive. blinkers were slow and needle was dead horizontal between C&D.

drove home, put voltmeter across battery.

same voltage running or not.

NAPA site says they have fusible links at my local store.

Not sure how to reconstruct that octopus (moulded triangle of rubber w/6 or so links of various gauges sticking out.)

the NAPA ones have eyes.

Maybe I can replace all of them and find some kind of mountable binding post to gang them all together.

No Reed.

It's the other end (It's a branch off of the thing you mean.)

I guess you posted while I was typing.

I think I will replace all links w/the NAPA ones and install them on a terminal block w/jumpers connecting them all to each other and the wire coming from the battery.

I don't understand how it was charging w/3 breaks in the link..

Thanks
