I was looking at the Hurst web site and catalog for a Street super shifter and I do not see any install kits for our Mopar transmission at all! Why would they not sell a install kit for one of the best transmissions ever made? Am I missing something? They have them listed for every other transmission! Even the crappy Munchie!

Well I just found a new shifter with the mounting kit on E-Bay. It is from the Hurst Shifter store. So why do they have a new one and the Hurst catalog shows none?

Also anyone who is familiar with these shifters. The mounting kit looks to be very similar to the Competition plus. Is there any chance that the Super shifter could be mounted and use the Comp. Plus linkage and mounting plate?

if I remember right, the Super shifter adapter plate is taller then the Competition plus. This is to allow the shift rods a direct shot to the levers. The only other differences is the reverse lockout. Its nice if you are constantly running up and down thru the gears, but kinda useless for drag racing.

my favorite shifter was a mr. gasket from early 70s...was closer/tighter than any hurst ...but saddly no longer made

Hurst made a fair amount of shifters and mopar used them off and on over the years (and inland as well) on their NP A-833 transmissions. The Hurst shifter (similar to the aftermarket competition model- but without the adjustable bolt stops on the shifter body) was standard on all of the 1975-1987 A-833OD (in some cases like the late F-body the stick can have the "Hurst" engraving on the shift stick itself). Common shifter interchange is 1975-1976 A-body, 1976-1980 F body, all A-833OD equipped Dodge/Plymouth Trucks (1975-1987).

Is that the same as the V gate?

I have 2 Hurst truck mechanisms. I believe they have the holes for the shift stop bolts.

Kinda/sorta like the vgate. In the 70's we put one in a 70 RR the owner didn't like the pistol grip. It had a seprate lever for reverse and a lift lever on the handle to put in first and to down shift.Once in first you just pulled and pushed the main stick back and forth, no missed gears.Hence, RamRod.That was almost 40 years ago.

They also have a 4 speed bellhousing from a mid '60s pickup, which may have an adapter plate attached. It certainly doesn't look like the 4 speed bellhousing from a early '80 pickup that I have.
