Hey guys, my first car is a 76 dart sport with a 225. I've upgraded from my crapper 1 barrel ( which actualy had 'junk' wrote on it) to a super six. This is my goals so far: ofset grind my rod journals, achieve a 9.5:1 comp, install a good cam, a gatorcharger, do some minor head porting and polish, and a 5spd od conversion would be amzing if I can. What do you guys think?

Welcome to the Board! Lots of good advice to be found here, most of it given by folks who have been deep into the Slant Six world for a long time, with all the requisite successes (and failures!) that entails.

The search function on this board is powerful... Use it often to gather lots of data on members' builds.

Welcome to more slant 6 info than you could imagine.
As previously stated get some pics up so we can see what you are working with and then we can also live through your adventures.

For the thoughts on the build, spend lots of time searching and reading, FAQ has some sections and anything that comes to mind from compression to carb choice just search it and there will be multiple topics.

You could save yourself the cost of offset grinding the journals to acheive the 9.5:1, as that is not a hard SCR to get with just plain milling (in fact the 1976 engine that was orignal to my Feather Duster was at 9.2:1 by just taking .010 off the block and .090 off the head with a clean up .020 overbore- on a stock 1979 cast crank engine and a 1974 head I was able to acheive 9.66:1 by decking the block .030, and the head .030 with an overbore of .060, so not hard for about $100 of machine shop milling).

To make the best use of your future OD and the cam, you need to change the rear gear ratio to make things 'work' better (even the stock slant get's to be 'fun' when it's allowed to get into it's higher rpm power band). Before the engine mods, I would head toward getting your tranny and rear end figured out then research and figure out the plan on the engine. It would be bad to build an engine that goes "flat" because it doesn't like hauling the car at 1200 rpm in OD...

DI hits the nail... The key to building a great slant six is careful planning.

Lots of unhappy folks out there who have "thrown parts" at slant sixes (even the kind of parts you would expect to do wonderful things... Big carbs, big cams, raucous exhaust).

Plan carefully. Figure out what you want the car to do. More than that, figure out where you will be spending most of your time behind the wheel, and how often you want to drive the car. This will give you great insight into which direction to take the project.
