The more aspects of my '64 Dart nuttiness I explore, the more dead ends, a$$umptions, misunderstandings and so forth I get to learn from. The latest project is replacing the manual steering with Borgeson modified power steering unit, then a$$uming the P/S pump I found in my garage would work with it. Turns out that the pump is from an '80's RamVan with a 318. It's a Saginaw, so it could work but the bracket and pressure hose aren't even similar to what I need!

The seller of the unit offered to make me a pressure hose by combining two different ones for $150.00. It looks like a better approach is to buy the correct pump and hose and try again to find a bracket for my /6. Looking at the pictures in the Rock Auto catalog has been very enlightening. The descriptions even list the fittings on the hose ends, which is another complete mystery, but what on old pal of mine called an A.F.G.E. Pronounced AF - GEE. It's an acronym for Another F***ing Growth experience!

Looking at more pictures shows two different P/S pumps, one by Saginaw (round bottom, tapered reservoir) & one by Chrysler (round bottom, oval straight sided reservoir). The hoses are specific to the pumps, but the two I've found have different fittings at the chuck end. Seems I need to find out what fitting is on the Borgeson, chuck get the hose that fits it, get the matching pump and then try to find the proper bracket. Any thoughts, guidance or good wishes??

Onward, through the fog!

P.S. moderator, is there a way to make that whole P/S pump thread in the suspension & brakes forum disappear? It's of no use to anyone. Thanks.
