I have a 1975 Duster stock 225 2 door.

I wish to place some 3-1/2" wide white walls on the front and back.
Is this possible with out cutting the wheel wells?
The size of the tire is : 285 70 15
Any Suggestions or comments would greatly be accepted.

I currently run a set of 275/55/15's on a 15x10 rim in the back of my duster at the track and that is all you can get with a set of 6 leaf-leaf springs in the back and not touch the outer lip of the rear wheel well.

285/70/15 is a pretty tall tire which would kill the slant in most stock street ratios anyway.

I forgot to tell you. i am not real interested in performance. This is just a "looker". (although i plan on putting a cam headers and 4 bbl on it). also if needed to I can add shock or different springs if need to aquire the tire size.

I just don't know what to do to begin with. I see you mention the rear tire, how bout the front. Is it possible to alter the front to accept the tire size?

Thanks.

The problem here 'dude' is that it may look good but it won't drive well, steer well, and the engine will dog out hard if you have the stock rear ratio with this tire size (even with cam, headers, 4 barrel...). You need to make all the components work together.

There just isn't a good way to make that wide of a tire work without doing some body work to the wheel wells, a narrower tire will be the better choice if needing the 'height'.

Sounds more like you already have the tires, and are stuck with the decision.

no. actually. i just picked the tires i liked and wanted to see if they would work. Their are other narrower tires that have wide white walls I can get.
can you recommend me a size for the front and back?

235's on a 15"x8 rim wouldn't be bad for the rear, and 225's up front would be OK as well.

Rim options depend on whether your have front disc brakes or front drum brakes (more options if you have front discs...).

You know you can make any tire with white lettering or narrow whitewall into a wide white wall?

Belt sander and a steady hand.....
