the right turn signal on the rear of my '65 valiant is acting up. when the brake lights come on the turn signal stops working. otherwise it's fine, even with the lights on. as soon as the brake lights come on it stops blinking, only on the rear, and as soon as the brake lights go off it comes back on. i'm sure it's something pretty simple but it seemed like a good idea to get on here and check if any of you guys have any ideas before possibly making it worse.

forgot to mention that the car had been sitting and the battery was pretty drained. after a jump the signal works fine. derp. took the steering wheel off already and the switch looked like it was in decent enough shape, just dirty. there was even some human hair in there. crazy!

nothing else goes screwy, just that blinker. i looked around at the wiring box in the firewall and everything looks old as hell, as to be expected. the blinker and brakes meet at the rear light, so i'm guessing that somewhere along the way the brake light is pulling more power through a crappy wire and it's sapping the energy fed through the blinker wire when there's not enough to go around.

Bad ground.

Your kilowatt drain is plugged, electrons can't get back to battery...
