hay new to the forum and i have a fun problem i have a 1976 dodge b100 which i threw a rod in about 6 years ago and now i got around to fixing so i bought a 1962 dart with a replaced engine assuming its a 70s sense the head does not have the spark plug tubes. the dart had a standard points and coil where as my 76 has a electronic ignition. would like to eliminate it for now tell i have it running so i do not have to change the distributor. and then i noticed the starter relay was missing so i took the one off the dart which had the g (think that its the neutral safety switch) soldered to the body of the relay shorting it to the chassis ground. and when i had the darts relay in the van it made a clicking sound which sense the starter didnt engage (tested it before installing it) i assumed the relay was bad and bought a new one. installed the new one and tried the key and noting happened. so i tested all the wires to the relay and they all worked other then the g wire which i ended up shorting to the valve cover (going to put it somewhere else later after a buddy reminded me that the gasket may make it less the a solid ground but i touched the wire with a ohm to the batt and it worked so its not a bad ground. so at this point i do not know where to start other then i was going to try and test the relay which i do not think is the problem but i need to check everything at this point also thinking about jumping a wire from the positive to the ignition to see if the starter will try and start. any advice and ideas would be helpful thanks

if anyone has a wire diagram i might know what to do thanks

i ended up changing the distributor and fought it for a while then put the starter relay from the dart on and it started trying to turn over but then my buddy said he saw some smoke from the wire harness at the firewall. have lights no wipers (they moved when the relay was bad) no starter trying

Take a look at http://www.mymopar.com, under section Tools/Reference you'll find Wiring Diagrams, but I don't know if your model is supported.
