Thanks CJ! Didn't even wet myself! Special thanks to Mater and family! Mike Simmons was the mastermind behind the entire weekend! Rob and I followed his lead! FANTASTIC time spent with the slant family. Angie Simmons makes killer enchiladas by the way!

First time visiting North Carolina - beautiful country. Glad Mater was driving through the mountains and not me.

And yes Mater and Cookie have buried the hatchet (sort of) and have been planning world slant domination!!!!!

Car still apart so I didn't get to race again  but I did have a good time jawing with a couple of slanters at Empire Dodge.

Greg, I looked over the Ruster. Congrats on your R/U Farmington run. You should have also gotten an award for crazy weight reduction ..awesome

Congrats to Ron as well as Rob.

Lou, that project V is a gorgeous machine

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic and very special Slant 6 racing weekend. This one will be strongly remembered for me, with the Dale Rose memorial, great car turnout and weather, and wonderful people.

Big congrats to Ron and Kay Hamby for putting on a great weekend AND for winning at Wilkesboro. Dale would be proud and jab you in the ribs for your efforts and success, Ron!

Some of the most fun was seeing my long time friend from Wisconsin, Jim Wirtz, run several passes at Wilkesboro in Project V. Was really special to share the Slanted Family with him and hopefully I can get him back for more racing!

I also thank my Slant 6 LeMons racing friend Jason Ernst for coming up to NW, and for jumping my car before round 2. Also big thanks to Kay Hamby for getting me gas on the starting line AT round 3! I felt fortunate to have such helpful friends, and that made it possible to win a couple of more rounds. Ron deserved the win in every way.

Lou

:? :? Did we meet at Empire..?

Now I feel bad! I had that camshaft in the tow rig across the street.

It's an Oregon regrind to MP 280 specs.

Lou
That was hilarious! She comes sliding in on that quad yelling, "Give me some gas!!"

She was shouting orders like a seasoned First Sergeant!

I stole Greg's gas can and hopped on the back of the quad and Kay tore off down the hill with a purpose. :D

This is gonna sound rediculous, but the highlight of my weekend was getting beat in the first round! :?

To see how excited everyone was for Kay to win her first race was priceless. :D

She tricked me at the finish line! I was coming up on her really fast and she let off at the finish... I thought, "Oh no you don't!" and got on the brakes... Ran a 9.10 on an 8.99 dial.

I have wanted to attend this race and the show at Empire for more years than I can remember.

The Dale Rose Memorial was a very class act. Thanks to Ron & Kay Hamby, Charles Myers and Tim Harrold for paying such a nice tribute to a dear friend.

It was great to have Donnie and Joan Edwards, Dale's Brother and Sister-In-Law, there as well. Joan is Myra's sister. Dale and Donnie were very close and many thought they were brothers as well.

Donnie presented Ron with the Dale Rose Memorial plaque that Charles had made in a very touching and emotional finale to a great weekend of Slant 6 Racing.

This is what it's all about! The Slant 6, the cars and the racing are just the means by which we build these great friendships.

I don't think we did

I was the guy out there in the blue Loctite shirt. Me and dad were parked out in front with the blue/silver cummins 2500.

We will meet up at some point I'm sure. Best regards and congrats.

We hate that we were unable to attended the races over the weekend, but between my car having sending unit issues, Rodney's trailer still being loaded with furniture from our move last month, just purchasing a tow vehicle and a trip to Memphis to get it, not getting off work until late on friday, taking kids to 4H camp, hosting Police Car Owners of America for their annual national convention and a host of other things... we're run ragged and running on fumes.

Sounds like ya'll had a great weekend and we sure did miss being there with ya'll. Congrats to Ron and Rob. And Ms Kay for her 1st race, I was looking forward to this being my 1st race too.

Alanna (& Rodney too)

We really missed you too Alanna!

We kept asking, "Where are Rodney and Alanna...?"

It would have been great to have you there.

Glad to hear from you, Alanna. We look forward to racing with you later in the year after things settle down for you.

Best wishes, Lou

Really enjoyed talking/cuttin' up with Brian Mimken. He has a very nice car that I plan to remove the rear spoiler ( when he's not lookin') for Chase's Demon.

If you go back to the pics Rick Covalt posted, you will notice that the pic of the "real" slantzilla has a rather handsome man wearing a RUSH t-shirt. Very appropriate!

Also Rick has a new nickname. The announcer at Wilkesboro Called him Rick "Covert"......So......Covert Ops was floating around. Which works for him nicely. You can still call him Red light Rick but when he doesn't turn the bulb red he will kick yer butt.

I was making fun of Greg and Lou for their big floppy hats but the second day of sun got me good. So I may join the floppy hat club.

Here is something I did learn. If ya order a cheeseburger at a track in North Carolina and ask for everything on it.......You with get onions, chili sauce, and cole slaw. Different and damn good! Kinda reminds me of me!
