Ok, here's my problem. I just swapped a 79 super six engine and trans into my 67 Valiant. I attached the purple wire that went to the neutral safety switch on the 67 trans to the purple wire that goes to the neutral safety/back up light switch on the 79 trans. It won't turn over the starter using the key(I can get the starter to turn over the engine by arcing the terminals on the starter) . Is the newer switch not compatible with the wiring in my older car? Will the older neutral safety switch thread into the same hole as the old one? Will it even work in the newer trans?

Help!?!?

Not sure of the color on the 79 switch, but connect the wire that went to the 67 trans switch to the center terminal/wire on the 79 switch. The 67 sw will not work in the 79 trans.

You da man Charlie! I still need to adjust the shift linkage, right now R is Neutral but it turns over with the key! I have to jack it back up and make an adjustment and then get the timing to where it will start.
Thank you
