I am having wheel envy once again. Can these wheels be made to go on my car without too much trouble? What kind of adapters are needed? Thanks for your thoughts here.

Those wheels have the 5x114 wheel bolt pattern. Our 5x4.5 bolt patter = 5x114.3 mm Some webpages list the Mustang as having the 5x114.3, others say 5x114.

That is pretty close and you might get away with running them as is, provided you are running large bolt pattern axles and hubs.

They are 5X114.3, like all Ford wheels, old and new. 114 does not exist, AFAIK. All of my cars have these type wheels on them, of various flavors and sizes. I go for lighter weight wheels, and those are heavy.

Check for the offset. I have a set of Mustang wheels that should work on the Duster with BB discs and 65 B body rear.

Darts IIRC have less clearance in the rear for fat tires.

Darts do have less clearance. I have had both a Duster and Darts. The Duster had considerably more upper room over the rear tires. Lou uses these kinds of wheels all the time with spacers. Now the question is, what is the best spacer? And do I need to change the lugs to make them work. I remember a thread here recently where someone drove out an old lug,and the new one was loose. I am also told the Mustang wheels have a smaller center hole. While you can machine this out, it seems that would be less than accurate. Some folks question any kind of aftermarket wheel that is not machined specifically for the Mopar hubs. I don't know. I am just exploring ideas at this point.

I have found a set of 15x8" Jeep wheels which I like very much, at a very resonable price, but the offset is 5.5, which is 1.25 more that the stock 7" wheels. If you add the .5" difference for the wider wheel, then that would suggest a back space of 4.75 for a 8" wheel. I am still 3/4" too deep .I would actually like to move the rear wheels out 1/2" and the Front ones in a bit if possible, to make the tracks more equal. Back to spacers. What do you recommend? I am not racing this car, so don't care about tech inspection, but do want it to be safe. It seems if Lou is getting by with spacers, with the hard driving he does, then spacers should be fine. Thanks for any ideas you want to share.

View the Link above - I use these as summer wheels on my Volare Duster - They are Heavy But it's okay with the Better handling you will have with the car.

And with your Disc Brake setup Stopping is not a problem either.

Remember .3mm is a very small distance.. 114.3=5" and 4.488189" = 114mm - Nothing to worry about.


Get your self some adapters and some center caps and off ya go!

I have a set of 15x7 charcoal gray 5 spoke Jeep wheels. They would look good on the Duster too. They don't scream out "LOOK MUSTANG WHEELS!" AndyF may make a plate to replace the Mustang emblem.

The 16x8 Mustang wheels I have are 5 spoke, with a a big flowery center cap that can be filled with bondo and painted.
