I have a '79 Volare with 25k actual miles and O'reilly's was running a special on 10w30 Valvoline Racing Synthetic in the Black Bottle. Sould I use this oil in this low mileage engine?

That oil should have enough zinc and calcium in it...
I run 15-50W Mobile 1 in my old shot 1980 stock motor with over 270,000 miles. It works fine, very quiet for running a wide lash .012 and .022. If yours is in good condition try it, but you may have to change the filter a few times if the engine is dirty or suffering from sludge do to lack of use...... The synthetic will clean it out! Watch the dip stick, if it goes black or feels gritty, change filters. Now that mine is cleaned out the oil stays a nice honey color with the unbleached cotton WIX 1806 filter. The 1806 is the best for the SL6.

With that low of mileage, watch your timing. The chain may wear suddenly due to oxidation.

A new timing set can become necessary real quick. With that low of miles, your seals may go pretty quick too. They are old. I'd watch oil levels, and for smoke at start up. The valve seals are probably shot. You've got an old car with low miles. That doesn't equate to a new car with low miles.
