Had to be, the only way around it would've been to run a belt drive off the front for an external oil pump, and a front mounted dizzy (which works great in a drag car, but leaves not much room in the street driver (and in an era where the electric fan up grade was not an industry standard).

Neat pics, and definately an interesting set up with all the old OEM items (don't see many of those clutches any more).

This would be a museum piece. It's a 170, so the ports and valve size would be "adequate."

There may be more to it, so there's little that can be said about how it might perform, though with the technology of the time, it may be limited in todays racing circles.

This is really, really interesting. I'm amazed you were able to re-engineer the head with the cam supports, rockers, and that drive in the back. Extremely impressed.

This is exciting! Welcome to the site. I have no idea what this is all worth. I guess with those rollers you could run a real roller cam w/o fancy lifters as in a stock engine.
