I found this on youtube which instructs the DEI wrap to be immersed in water. There may be more than one kind of DEI wrap, and I do not know which kind I ordered from Summit. It should be here tomorrow. I am inclined to take off the pipes to wrap them.

Got the kit this afternoon, and installed it. They recommend water immersion, but it is not essential. Water makes it go around bends more smoothly. I chose to go dry. It came out pretty well. I could not remove the pipes as they are welded into the exhaust pipe. So I did the best I could with them in place on the car. There is one gap in the coverage where the tube was tight up to the inner fender, which I may cover later when I get more SS zip ties. Now I am out to make a heat shield to go between the pipes and the intake tube.
