I really need to re-think this high compression/ quanch chamber engine combination, it is just not working.
This is the second time I have built this engine and the second time we have broken it during the first outing. :x

This time everything seemed OK doing some "half passes" but on the first full pass the engine lost power after the 2-3 shift and started to smoke. I ran on 5 cylinders back to the pits where we pulled the plugs and found #4 caked with molten aluminium. Pulled the head-off and found piston #4 burned real bad.

Back to the drawing board on this one, I think I am going to pull the stroker crank out of it and just build it as a 3.485 bore x 4.125 "long rod" engine with a more realistic compression ratio.

Swapped-out the 254 and put in a 10.5 to 1, big valve head 198.
I have run this engine in the past and it has run 14.50s with-out NOS.
We will see how it does with a 100 HP shot.

Sept 19, 2003 - while towing up to the Mopar Magic race at Sacramento Raceway, I had a tire blow-out which caused a spin-out and accident.
My Van and the B'cuda race car left the road and went down a tree studded slope. Both cars look totaled at this point.

We hauled the wrecks over to Bob Stepps place where we will review the damage. I can say right off that the Van will get scrapped quickly, seeing it has high miles and little value. We will have to see about the racecar.

After a good inspection the decision is to part-out and scrap the 68 Barracuda racecar. It is just way to bent.
All the running gear looks to be in good shape so we will pull-out all the running gear and stick the parts into another chassis.
Now we need to decide which car will be the next 'racer" and work fast to get it going before the 2004 racing season starts.
