I have a 83- a833 overdrive. Running 29" tires- p235/75r15 and a used rear end that comes out to 3-1 ratio no mater how many time I did the math.Running a stock 74 hei distributor at 5 degrees of timing with a gm hei conversion- a 318 bbd with a manual choke.Besides being tricky to launch and the speedo reading 10 mph low runs quite well as long as there is no head wind.Od is iffy at times but have hauled by 1 1/2 tons of tools and did quit well and turns back 21 mpg in normal daily interurban driving.The engine really needs a rebuild since it was beyond sludge and goes thru 1 quart of oil in 500 miles. Get rid of the cat convertor if you can and run a 2 1/2 steel/ glass pack and tail pipe.
