We had a club touring inspection today and it looks like I have some wear in my idler arm and pitman arm.

I just checked Rock Auto and, for idler arms, I have a choice between a Moog PN K414 (US$33.79) and a Raybestos PN 450-1002 (US$45.79). Is there any good reason to go for the Raybestos arm?

It doesn't look like there is a Moog or Raybestos part for my pitman arm and Rock Auto doesn't list any alternatives. However, Firm Feel and Just Suspensions list both idler arms and pitman arms for my car but they're fairly pricey. Firm Feel's PN PAA1 pitman arm is $125 while Just Suspensions PN 20112 pitman arm is $127.76.

Any advice?

The Pitman arm is the same through '72, but for some reason the books don't agree. Try a 1970 Valiant for the pitman, Moog K7074, about $63 at rockauto.com.

Buyer's Guide: MOOG K7074 Pitman Arm
DODGE DART (1967 - 1972)
PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA (1967 - 1969)
PLYMOUTH DUSTER (1970 - 1972)
PLYMOUTH VALIANT (1965 - 1972)

Josh, I don't think a 62-66 pitman is the the same as a 67, 68-72
62-66 moog k-7020
67-70 moog k-7074

they do not look the same in the picture reference in the back of the book,

as for advice-- try the moog # on ebay to see if any one has an old stock item for sale.

shoot someone might have a new one & the project changed direction-- also --post up & wanted ad-

The Raybestos idler arms cost $12 more than the Moogs so they must be better. I wasn't sure if anyone actually used one of the Raybestos parts and actually found them to be better than the Moogs.

I tried looking for the Moog K7020 but it's not listed in the Federal Mogul catalog. NapaOnline lists a Rare Parts PN RPC-20112 for $139.

FirmFeel lists several pitman arm PNs so I'm not sure if Moog K7074 fits cars back to 62. In an earlier topic about center links, Dan reports that "the '62-'66 A-body pitman arm is K7020. The idler is a K414."
  • 1963-66 - PAA1 - $125
  • 1967-72 (except 383) - PAA2 - $125
  • 1967 w/383 - PAA3 - $125
  • 1968-69 w/383 - PAA4 - $125
  • MS 1973-76 - PAA5 - $125
  • PS 1973-76 - PAA6 - $95

Hello, new guy here.

Trying to locate the right pitman arm for my 64 dart. I have narrowed it down to the Moog 7020 and the 7074. I do not see the differences other then the 7020 is pricey and hard to find and the 7074 is cheap and easy to get. Can anybody verify that the 7074 will work on my 64 Dart like the gentleman above has suggested that it might?

Thank in advance!

Try Kanter Auto Parts in NJ.
