With all the talk regarding the HEI conversions, I was thinking how great it would be to run a 7 pin module with a computer controlled advance curve. Obviously you could run a mega squirt on ignition only, but would be more expensive and complex than necessary, the EDIS has mega jolt, has anyone heard of a similar unit for HEI? Thanks

The purpose of the 7 pin HEI was to act as a trigger for the batch fired fuel injection on GM vehicles. THis was the whole reason I got interested in HEI in the first place- to use it as a trigger for a fuel injection conversion. However, i have abandoned this idea in favor of using a Ford MAF based injection and ignition system. It is a much better system and is far more tune-able.

Thanks for the reply, yes I guess it would supply a signal to the batch fire ecu, much the same principle as most efi systems work. I was just thinking that most guys also do a recurve of their advance during a HEI conversion and it can be a fiddly process to get right....how great would it be to have a programmable controller to supply the advance signal to a 7 pin HEI module, the same ways as it would in the original efi system! You could use the elb distributor for triggering if you didn't want to lock out the advance on a conventional distributor. I guess I was hoping someone made hei compatible controller like the EDIS mega jolt ,it would be a very neat, easy conversion to a programmable ignition system.

SSdan posted a while back about somebody who was doing just that. Do search and you should be able to find the post.
