I have a 225 CI 4bbl Scamp with a lopey cam. I am trying to figure out what cam I have with out tearing into it. There were three stickers on the window when I got the car. Holley which it had for carb, offy which it had for intake and Moon???. Now I see Moon once made racing cams by Potvin. Does anyone know when they stopped making cams? I think the motor mods were recently completed by the PO so chances are the cam is not by Moon. Moon seems to only sell nick nacks now so they are no help.

well i havn't heard about them making cams but i wouldn't doubt it way back when...

you can put a dial indicator on the retainer and see how much lift it has, then add what ever lash its at and get a lift number. you can get a loose idea of how much duration there is by comparing to other cams.

other wise you need to put a degree wheel and try to figure out the specs yourself or send it to comp and they will give you a cam card

I bought a Moon Cam years ago that was sold by Clifford. Decent cam, but when I called Dean Moon he said, quit buying your stuff from Clifford, next time you need a cam, "call me!" I have the cam card here I will try and post it.

Oregon camshaft grinding can regrind yours for about 75 bucks. Regrind can give you, more lift and more duration to an extent but cannot change centerline or overlap appreciably. But a little more lift or duration couldnt hurt. Basically it involves lowering the base circle of the lobes so they are taller lobe to tip. Youll end up adjusting every rocker screw down a few turns or getting new longer pushrods to retain design geometry.
