Someday I am going to to take a stock stamped steel valve cover to a media blasting company and have them strip it and polish it for me. It will be shiny and I know it will fit and work.
Just sayin'..... :)

He did weld my stove pipe and baffle, but he did the last one too, and it was really straight.

No, this is offy's poor quality control. My offy dual two barrel intake manifold was absolutely flawless.

You'd think with the limited amounts they produce they'd be more careful...

You can glue two rubber gaskets together to solve the warp issue, but also, the real gaskets type are silicone, so RTV silicone bonds them together really well...and they're more pliable and thicker than the rubber ones.

Finally got around to checking my recently puchased valve cover and yep, it's warped like .250 on each end. Crazy.

Gentlemen - just called Dan Marvin. He invited you to do the same his number is 559 - 592 - 2707. This is his first he has heard of warping on the slant cover.

The 235 Chevy cover is a different story. It does not have perimeter bolts and has real leakage issues. He did say Tom Langdon (stovebolt fame) would massage his Offy covers before they went into customer hands. Maybe that's why he no longer sells them.

Dan also recommended a permatex product called "the right stuff" that can be used with or without a regular gasket.

You may also contact Offy directly @ 323 - 225 - 1307.

It looks as if my valve cover will also need some tweeking.

But rest assured your warped and nonpolished bolt hole cover was cast and finished in LA not China.

Wow - kinda makes one not want to put together group buys anymore.

wvenable - I recall SlantSixDan calling either him or offy directly about this and the claims were dismissed. I can't find the post at the moment. Even if we do call him, is he going to tell us anything different then he told you?

I remember very well. Dan was trying to get Tay (Offy owner) to incorporate a provision for PCV into the design. Warping was not on the radar. Dan will most likely spell it out for you like he did for me - If it gives you a little more piece of mind call him. Or go to the top.

Nah I'm over it. It's been too long ago, I've added holes for pcv etc so can't expect them to take it back. Already a sunk cost for me, but for the ones that haven't used theirs yet....

Thought Dan had talked to them after the fact about the polishing and such, not just before the buy.

Goodluck with that, we use that at work to put things together that won't ever come apart. I pulled a water pump off a pt cruiser that was gobbled up with right stuff. Took me same amount of time to clean it as it did to get the pump off (using a mini grinder).

And offy is right down the street from my shop, I should pay them a visit.

I have one still in the box from the last group buy years ago. Maybe I should check it?

What did he offer to do? Mine is really bad, I tried to use a long flat file along the sides to get some of the 'wow' out of it, but the biggest problem is just that it's tweaked from corner to corner by 1/4" or more.

Dan Marvin suggest calling Offy maybe for some possible machine work. He did not know haw that would work out. Call him or call Offy or wait and hopefully valiant boy wonder will drop in and pay them a visit.

Mine is also "twisted" corner to corner. But not that bad.
