Hey there its been a while since ive posted.

Up till now my high comp long rod Hyper Pak slant was running great until i noticed water and oil mixing under the pvc vavle. I think i caught it very early on the picture thank goodness. Ive only done 3,000 miles since the full rebuild but I have driven the car on very hot days however and been stuck in traffic but with thermo fans on.

Ok so i pulled the plugs, they look normal, rusty brown colour, poped the valve cover heaps of sludge, pulled the head off as carefully as possible studs were in nice and tight. No splits or cracks nothing on gasket block or head.
I used a permaseal gasket also, so whats my next step before i reinstall a new gasket, get the head checked for cracks? Pressure test? Obvioudly drain oil and oil flush. What coolant did remain in the radiator however was still lush and green and not contaminated with oil, was the water just slowly going into the oil system somehow?

My best sugestion would be now that it is getting cooler you might be getting condensation under the valve cover. If you had a water leak the dipstick would have milkshake looking oil on it and oil level would be going up. Sounds like you need to run the motor at normal operating temps for a longer period of time to get the oil temp up to the point of vaporizing the moisture.

Defiantly not the case. Oil is like ice cream it's only getting hotter down under mate!! Today in Perth wa was a cool 95 far easily. We hit 44 deg cel days all the time. Oil level is slightly higher than normal. I reckon I had a litre of sludge under the valve cover. Definitely water getting into the oil system some how. Off to get the head tested tomorrow.

Looks like you do have a internal leak, as you stated that the coolant level was lower and the oil level was higher.Clean as best you can. Top cooling system and use a presure tester on the cooling system.Leave oil drain plug out and check for coolant to dribble out. If it does,,Very good chance of a head gasket leak first. Lets keep the fingers crossed that you won't have anything cracked.

Head is back crack and pressure tested ok with flying colours.
I then blocked off all water holes in block and pressured up to 14lb left it for half an hour and all good the pressure stayed at 14 lb.

Now do I risk reassemble, or pull out the block and strip the block and seek futher testing?

So do i use the permaseal gasket again or use felpro?

From what you have told us, sure looks like the culpret was the head gasket. I may be wrong put I thought Permatorque was Felpro.
Anyway,I've had good luck,,even though Felpro says not to use sealer,using a product called Gasgacinch.Our local parts house carries it and if not avaliable, it is available thru Edelbrock. Just a thought.

So far so good.

Engine is back together and is running very smooth.
However the head was slightly out so it got a slight skim. Hopefully this was the only drama torqued and re torqued head and hopefully no more leaks.

Once I picked up a jug of motor oil when I meant to top off with coolant, same color jug - easy to do when you're tired, especially when lighting is bad. This can happen the other way around too.
