For the LA area-people, who can recommend a body shop who does good work and doesn't price gouge on the labor?

I'm getting an estimate of $400-$500 just to cut out a floorpan, weld a new one in and seal it from a local shop who came highly recommended. Their labor is $52/hour, and they're estimating it's between 8-10 hours to do it.

Ouch.

I wanted to pay 1/2 that or less to have this done.

Can anyone recommend?

That sounds like a very reasonable estimate to me.

There is a great body shop in Pasadena (if still there) called CARS - Collision Auto Repair Specialists. Owner is Daniel Gamez. Excellent work at reasonable prices and very friendly guys. Works on classic cars a lot. It's on Walnut street, or just south of Walnut, near Hill Ave. He painted my 64 Dart, and then later did a repair when someone backed into it.

Maybe what I was expecting, and what is reality aren't meshing. I don't understand why it takes 8-10 hours on such a small area (they were guesstimating on time).
