hey guys sorry for being such a bug, but i recently converted my 225 1bbl to a super 6, everything is great but i feel my distributor is not keeping up. i have replaced my point system to the petronix 1 pointless system and took out the ballast resistor to get a full 12v charge to the coil. is there a better distributor for my set up. the problem arises at WOT where i cant really feel the engine do work or change timing as if it just chugs along instead of roaring.

please advice
Sincerely
Jose Slant VI newbie

Your problem very well may not be the distributor. What size is your exhaust system? Have you verified the proper fuel/air mixture is being delivered? If you want roar go for an open element air cleaner! 8)

i am running 2.25 pipes yet, i did not port the exhaust manifold to 2.25 and the first foot is still 1.8 diam pipe and for the A/F mixture i did the old highest rpm test at idle

The 1 7/8" pipe isn't great, but that's not likely your problem. It's likely the main power mixture is lean and the idle mixture adjustment will not change that.

Check first. In this day and age that means a wideband O2 sensor. Then it's playing with the carb jets and rods.
