So, even though I know to take a pic before I go in....I forgot to take a pic when I was changing the seals on my speedo gear hicky do...I believe it was lined up with the "26/31" line, as I'm guessing it has something to do with my A-904, having e.g. 31 teeth on the speedo gear in the tranny and 26 splines on the tranny shaft that mates with the yolk?

It was easy to change the seals, but I'm hoping I got the thing positioned correctly. The gear is green. It seemed when I put it in that 26-31 position the gear was engaging the tranny's worm gear, but if anyone can let me know if this sounds right I'd appreciate it....

Those numbers are the range of speedo gears teeth that will run at that position. Pull the assembly out and look at the side of the speedo gear, you will find a number as two circled digits. Put it back together and put the housing with the numbers that numbers found fit in that group pointing to the small raised point cast on tailshaft housing (the clamp will fit and hold part in correctly).
Look at everything and you will see what I am trying explain.

Back together and working fine....it's really pathetic because I have an iphone in my pocket while all this is happening....easy to take a pic.

BTW - smart phone users, if you've not yet downloaded a flashlight app, do it! If you're under the car and need a light, the smart phone makes a nice flash light and it stands up or lays flat nicely. They even have an "S.O.S." setting in case the tranny falls on your chest and you're stuck under there on the (dark) side of the road....it flashes S.O.S. pattern....OK, I thought it was cool....

I saw a friend using a headlight once and picked up the habit from him. They are much more convenient for emergency situations or when working under something that blocks ambient light. I keep one now in my car instead of flashlights.

Thinking a headlight would be one damn fine emergency light. Simple and good idea. Thanx.

Sounds like a great idea, just keep the batteries in a ziploc bag with the light- not installed IN the light. Nothing stinks worse than needing a light & finding out that yours had the batteries leak & "kerslode" inside. (can't understand why- they were only 3-4 years old?).

Doesn't seem to matter what the battery package says- once you load them into something they're a ticking timebomb just waiting to corrode.
