Tonight we worked on the truck again, and if it weren't for a brake line breaking, the rear of the truck would have gotten finished. We have everything assembled and ready to bolt back in, but now we have to bend and install a new brake line from the drum to the splitter (not a big deal, but didn't have time to do it tonight) so we're gonna finish it up tomorrow and then we can start on the front next weekend!

I also finally got the other 225 slant on the engine stand! I had to re-locate where the chain was bolted to the engine so that it was more balanced and went quite nicely.

Well folks, half of the truck is lowered, and the hard part is over. Now we have to do the front suspension and will be an "unbolt old/bolt in new" process and shouldn't take more than a day or two. I will let the pictures speak for themselves...







I might look for some slight wheel adapters to kick the rear wheels out a bit and look a little better. Stay tuned for more lowering goodness!

Well everyone...it is officially lowered! I can't believe what a night/day difference it is! I actually have to open the door and fall into the seat instead of do a very slight hop-n-slide. I need an alignment done badly, but that will have to wait until I can find the time to drop the truck off and hopefully not snowing a foot. Anyways, here she is...







And I edited a photo on my phone with the "vintage" filter and I think it looks awesome!


Now realistically, I kinda wish we would have cut the front springs a half spring, but I figured it's better to go too low than not low enough, so we cut a full spring. If I don't like it over time, I can always buy a new set of springs (only $50 per set) and cut a half coil off and put those in...or just fab up some taller rear shackles and lower the rear about an inch. Not sure, but for now I am SOOO pleased with the truck, and my friend's time and patience paid off!

Now to start working on the interior over the winter months...stay tuned people!

How well does that (HF?) red engine stand with “Tâ€￾ center leg hold a slant? I’m about to pull the trigger on an engine stand, but undecided between the one you have, and the wide “Vâ€￾ stance of HF’s 2000 lb stand.

Thanks! Yeah, interior work is pretty easy...that and I work at an upholstery shop, so materials are cheap through the shop.
The stand seems to be holding fine, but I would upgrade to be safe.

I like the lowered stance of our older trucks, not so much chopped and body dropped but how we have them.
When I done mine I used lower control arms from an 80's van. They bolt in w a larger bolt diameter but they use same ball joint. The big diff is they have a recessed spring pocket for the coil to sit in. Keeps from cutting the coils. It's in my build and can be found on ram charger site as well, just adding options. Keep on truckin.

I did use the 80's B-series LCA's but was afraid that it wasnt going to be enough of a drop since the front tires are an inch shorter in height that the rears, so I decided to cut a coil. What is your screen name over on RCC? I'd love to see your truck!

Pretty soon I am going to start working on the interior and the audio. I have some sound deadened stuff that I can get for free at work, so I am going to line the entire floor, under the dash, the doors and the rear panel behind the seat, then make new door panels, make a new carpet kit and floor mats, and make the center console that will go between the buckets. Here's my entire audio system (and 1" wheel adapters):

Lastnight I got a little ambitious and decided to rip out the bench seat and throw in the Eddie Bauer buckets out of a late 90's Explorer. I like them (besides the color, which I will probably end up dying them until I can get them re-upholstered) but I need to get power to them so I can get both seats to the lowest point possible...basically because I need to see how much room I have between the driver's seat and the steering wheel at the lowest setting the seat will go, but I plan on getting an aftermarket steering wheel that is 14" in diameter (a bit smaller than the OEM but not too small) so it shouldn't be a problem. I also just threw in the subwoofer between the seats to see how much clearance I would have for making the center console, and I have plenty of room for that as well! Anways, on to the pictures...










And I have a few pictures of the trunk with the "new" grille from the '72 Power Wagon truck I bought for $450:

I haven't had time to tinker with the truck lately, but I'm hoping to start pricing materials out (carpet, wood/vinyl for center console, etc.) and I need to really think hard about what color I want to paint the truck so I can get materials for the interior picked out too.

Right now I am really digging this paint scheme: B5 blue basecoat with a matte/flat clear, "gunmetal" brushed aluminum vinyl-wrap everything "chrome or polished" (front/rear bumpers, grille, emblems, trim, etc.), and B5 blue-painted interior shell with black dash, door panels, and center console, color-matched blue carpet/mats, and black leather seats with matching blue Alcantara suede inserts with dark gray accent stitching, and "gunmetal" brushed aluminum vinyl on gauge cluster and top surface of center console.

Don't know if any of that makes any sense, but it does to me and will look FANTASTIC!
