I want to put a universal cruise control kit in my 62' Signet.

Any feedback on a suitable kit much appreciated.

Thanks, Peter

I was on the hunt for a cruise control for my '66 Dart slant six and it seemed that most of the newer units had a turn signal stocks that needed to be completely replaced from the original one in the car. In the case of our older cars, that didn't seem so easy to me so I watched ebay for an NOS kit from the seventies or eighties. The older kits have a control that attaches to the T/S arm and doesn't require replacing the whole thing. The older units work just great. Sears, Audiovox and others are quite similar and often identical. I spent about a hundred bucks to about a hundred fifty bucks. That was for the NOS, never used unit.

When I was shopping for a cruse control I visited a couple of auto audio forums frequented by car installers, I asked what cruse control systems they like to install and have good results with. The cruse control systems from Rostra Precision got a lot of recommendations. And that is what I went with.

The kits are available on E bay,,but one of the installers recommended buying the kit direct from Brandon Distributing, (877-402-3944) as they have a tech line if there are questions on the install. I did that also. The installation was pretty straight forward, but I had a few questions on the initial settings. The folks at Brandon were very helpful.

Rostra has several options for the control switch, all shown at their web site.
