Will the earlier rib style cover fit the later hydraulic engines. I prefer the earlier look and plan to keep my eyes open for one if they do. Thanks

No. The hydraulic cover is a different shape. The covers physically will not bolt on.

No the 1981-1987 valve cover has a 'jog' in one corner, so swapping valve covers either way will not bolt up to the head and seal... so if you have a hydro head you have to have a hydro cover and if you have a 1960-1980 mech head you can use any of those covers...
