My rear end is sagging, I need new springs. So are the ones from Layson's any good? I am going to get 5 leafs per side.

Go ahead and save that weird car, the sedan, the 6 cylinder, the C-Body. If you want a big block musclecar and that's all you care about, your missing the point.

I would not buy from Layson's since they have had some bad transactions in the past and mark the price of their items up really high. I think you can do better by going with ESPO or Springs n' things (mine were from JC whitney, 6 leaf springs and worked great)...Your car can use any A-body spring set from 1967-1976...so don't let them tell you that the 67-72 set is different from the 73-76 set (I bolted a late 5 leaf set with helpers into my '67 valiant with no problems).

5 Spring will put it right, 6 spring if you plan on putting stuff in the trunk (i.e. spare tire, full tool box, spare fluids and parts, emergency gas can, aftermarket jack...LOL)

2 cents,

I'll go to JEGS or Summit and order the MP 6 leafers then.

Don't throw away your old springs. Keep the top leaf, the one with the eyes. If your new set ever sags, you can cut the eyes off that old one with a hack saw and make a new, longer 2nd spring to put in your pack, and remove the bottom one. This w ill perk it right up. Make the space between the end of the 2nd leaf and the shackle shorter than the stock set up. That is where most of the sag happens.

If you put the heavy duty spring on, that will often sit the rear up too high for good handling. I ended up getting a new set of front perches designed to lower the rear. You could also simply put lowering blocks in.

I went with ESPO. They de-arched the springs by an inch for me, and were a voice on the phone rather than a machine, thus able to answer my questions.

ESPO will build'em any way you want, 4,5,6 leaf, +/_ several inches from factory ride height, and their pricing is very completive. You eliminate the middle man with a spring manufacture such as ESPO. They don't list A Body springs on web site, but one call will get a set on the way to your house just the way you want them in any color as long as it's black. All you need to know is the size of the front bolt and bushing.
