Greetings from Ventura, California!

My friend just moved out of state and I was able to purchase her '65 Dart. I believe Chet (as named by PO's) was originally a 170 auto, but he is now (I am told, have not confirmed) a 225. He has an '85 engine with an '81 head, 727 torqueflite, 1920 Holley carb (3059, I think she said).

Chet and his PO were members of this forum previously (chetterhead), so I have read through those postings. I have also purchased (and received as of today!) the '65 dodge tech service manual, auto mechanics fundamentals, and automotive troubleshooting and repair manual. I have never been trained in mechanics, so these will be awesome resources. I am a fiddler by nature and can easily make sense out of things if I learn how they work.

Car history: first car was a '71 Chevy nova. No car has yet compared to Christine, but the Dart is making me fall in love again. After Christine, I had an 85 accord, 89 Mazda 626, 2004 Acura rsx, 95 vw Jetta, 99 GMC sierra, 98 vw cabrio, 2008 accord, and (my current commuter) 2012 Acura tax. And now Chet!

Apologies for the long intro. I have done an underbody inspection of Chet (he is slightly lowered, so it is as underbody as I can fit), but have yet to touch anything. I want to learn first, then touch. (measure, measure, measure, then cut!)

He needs a new interior, but he needs more important items first. Transmission (work, or replacement... not sure), carb work, oil leak fixes, overheating issues corrected, alignment/suspension issues corrected. Can't wait! The best part of fixing issues is the ability to upgrade. I would love to stay stock, but that ship seems to have sailed. ;-)

Welcome.

I lived on Jordan Street in Ventura in 1970. Was a much smaller town back then.

Hi. I'm also in Ventura and have a 64 Dart GT in an ongoing state of restoration. I need to get together with other Slant geeks so we can help each other.
