Hello everyone.I just took my 225 out of my 1971 Scamp to get freshend up.I put a 2 bbl intake on it with a 1969 318 carb.Is there anything else I need to do besides a different kickdown arm.I can use my throttle cable but I cant find a throttle cable bracket. Is there something on certain cars that will fit and do the job.If there is something else I am missing your input would be very helpful. Thanks

is all your plan to just try a two bbl first? the linkage is hard to find if you never got it with the intake but if you can weld and fabricate you can turn the 1bbl linkage into what you need. also the kick down cable from a dakota pickup can help with the kickdown and get rid of the rod.

Terry has a good plan...I think if I were going to haul a stock engine out of a car for just a regasket I might be tempted to make some improvements to it...If it's going to the machine shop might as well bump up the compression to 9:1 and get a RV grind like Ted has...you'll have a whole new feeling after that...

Thanks for the help everyone.I think ill look into the rv grind.Do you go to comp cams for the cam or is there a better place that would know what I wanted.Do I take the linkage with the kickdown cable or do I have to macgiver something. Thanks again.Working on a V8,no problem, slant six is a whole new experience for me.Good to have a site like this for people that want to learn about the slants.

What year of Dakota for the kickdown have to be.The engine builder called me and said the motor just has to be reringed and new bearings put in.I had him take 1 thou off the head.Clifford performance told me it would boost compression. Thanks

with the kickdown cable any of the 3.9 or 5.2 have all you need. on the trans side get all the linkage and brackets fits right on the 904. with the carb side you needs the bracket of the throttle body and some flat stock to mount it in the right location. with the engine appart i would go 0.060 of the head surface, if you engine builder is able to deck the block i would cut 0.090 of the block surface and just clean the head surface.

If you are going to mill the head and/or deck, I would not tell the machinist to take off any specific amount until the camshaft has been selected and installed at the centerline you want and you have calculated your dynamic compression ratio.

I would do this, especially if you are shooting for a 9-9.2:1 SCR and say a Comp cam 252, Erson RV10, or Ted's Cam....

If he's doing rering, this would be pretty safe and helpful with the new cam...at .090, and giving .039-.043 back for a Fel-pro head gasket, then taking a cut on the head of .010 it will be pretty close if the block really is on the line for a 1971 block (about .175 deck height and a 55-56 cc chamber on a standard bore...with a comp cam 252 set at 106 centerline wold put the SCR at about 9.3:1 and the DCR at 8.11:1 which is right in the goal posts for a fun daily driver and keep your mileage)

If he can clean up the ports in the head or you can take it to a friend with a die grinder, that helps as well for the street driver.

2 cents,
